Emergency Kits: We have quite a few children who are still missing emergency kits. Please replenish and return them as soon as you are able. We would also like to stock up on more water. We are asking each family to please bring in a gallon of water when you are able.
Thank you: Thank you for your donations to the family who lost their homes in the fire. There were three homes lost to one family which left them all without alternative housing after a tragedy (everyone lived within miles of each other). They are safe with friends and extremely appreciative of the donations they will be receiving.
Caring Conversations: We will be having our first Parent Group meeting on Tuesday, October 24 at 4:30 pm. The topic of this meeting is “We’re in This Together.” Come meet other St. Michael’s parents on this parenting journey and let’s talk about what we all have in common. Children are welcome to stay in the preschool during the meeting. Please RSVP via email to Ms. Lauren so we can be sure to have enough teachers on hand to accommodate the children.

Rolie Polie News (Infant/Toddler Room)
Hello from the Rolie Polie Room! It’s time to say hello to Fall. It will be the theme for the month of October as leaves are changing colors, weather is getting cooler, and the harvest of pumpkins is everywhere in preparation for the celebration of Halloween.
We will be enhancing our fine motor skills this month by doing “finger” art activities such as pumpkins and spiders. We will also be exploring our sense of touch with leaves and pumpkins in our sensory bin.
As a reminder please check your child’s extra clothing and snack bins and bring a jacket for outdoor play.
There will be a Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 31st at 9:30 a.m. The babies and toddlers are welcome to dress up and join the fun.

October is here and this month our theme will be Fall and “manners” words for the month are “Please” and “Thank You.” We will be exploring leaves, pumpkins, acorns and doing Halloween activities. The children will be exploring fall leaves, acorns, pumpkins and Halloween through activities such as cube measuring with pumpkins, leaf crunching and squishy, non- messy paint. These types of activities will help them with their math, social, and small motor skills. We will be going on a Leaf Hunt and Nature Walk so the children can explore the outdoors and collect leaves for our nature walk collage. During our circle time we will be singing and doing music and movement with songs like "Here We Sit Together" "Where is ______?" "Pumpkin, Pumpkin,” "The Leaves on the Tree,” and “Pumpkin Work Out.” On display in the classroom will be a pumpkin patch, Halloween bats, The Five Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate, leaves and acorns. Also, we will be making skeletons out of q-tips.
To celebrate the fall season we are asking parents to bring nature to the classroom. Please bring us items we find in nature such as leaves, rocks, tree branches or pine cones. You can find things items all around at the park, your back or front yard or just walking down the street. When you do find them please place them in the circle basket next to the go home box.
The “manner words” of the month are "Please” and “Thank You." We will be talking about how to use “please” and “thank you.” We will be singing the “Say Please” song and putting “say please and thank you” signs around the classroom. We will be guiding the children on how and when to use their manners. Our goal is to get them to use their manners more not just with adults or teachers but with friends also.
The Fall weather is here so please make sure that your child’s extra clothes are complete and that they are appropriate for the weather. Please provide a jacket or sweater for the chilly mornings and afternoons. Make sure that all clothing is clearly marked. We do go outside every day, unless it is raining.
We would like to thank all our families that made it to back to school night. It was a joy to meet and interact with you. We are still looking for a room parent for our class. A room parent is the parent who establishes a communication with the other parents in the class to organize and arrange school events. Dolphin Room News
We had a great start to this 2017-2018 school year. As we transitioned from Bumble Bees and Blue Whales into Dolphins, we have had the chance to welcome our new friend Barrett into our class. We had a blast learning about the weather and ended the month with lessons about leaves that included a leaf hunt down Richmond St.
Now that October is here, we will learn more about the Fall season. We will incorporate Fall colors (red, brown, orange) into our art work. We will also incorporate things associated with the season such as acorns, apples, pumpkins and much more! Please continue to bring in pumpkins for your child. We will be painting/decorating the pumpkins on Monday, October 23rd and Tuesday, October 24th.
As the weather is cooling down, please ensure that your child has a jacket and/or long sleeves to keep them warm. Also, please make sure that your child has a change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, socks, shoes) in case of any accidents. When/If your child is running low on items (pull-ups, extra underwear, wipes, cream) a note will be placed in their lunch box.
Pumpkins for painting/decorating no later than Friday, October 20th
Please check GO HOME BOX daily
Label all of your child’s belongings (food containers, water bottles, clothing)
Ms. Kayla & Mr. Brandon
September was a great month. We became established in our classroom routine, we talked about what we do with our hands, and how to fill our buckets, as well as our friend’s buckets. We spent time talking about what it means to be a good friend, and how we can be a good friend. We had fun painting with red and yellow which were our colors of the month, as well as learning about triangles and working in our journals.
This month we will be traveling down to the farm. We will be talking about the animals that live on a farm and what they do, we will also be talking about some of the foods that farmers grow on the farm. The children will each get a chance to sheer a “sheep” and milk a “cow”, they will also get to pick a crop that they would like to plant and look after, just like a farmer. We will spend some time talking about Fall, also we will spend some time with apples. We are going to do a really cool science/art project with paint, baking soda, and vinegar. The last week we will be talking about Halloween and creating some spooky decorations for the classroom.
Our colors of the month are Brown and Orange, our shape is a Circle, and the letters we will be working on are: F, A, P, and C. Share day this month will continue to be on Fridays, since we got a later start to share days then I had intended.
Halloween information: We will be having a Halloween parade and carnival on Tuesday the 31st . We will be parading around the bike yard and then having a small carnival. Parents are welcome to come watch the parade and help set up the carnival games. We will be having a special Halloween snack. Children that arrive before 9am should arrive in their clothes and bring their costumes in a bag. Children arriving after 9am should arrive in their costumes and bring a change of clothes. Please, NO weapons or masks. If you are unsure, please ask either myself or Ms. Lauren.
Back by popular demand is the Mystery reader program. We are inside from 9:30 to 10:50 every day and would love to have a mystery reader come and read us a story. You can bring your own favorite book, or you can borrow one of the many Mrs. Michelle has. Just let me know what day and time works best for you and we will schedule it. Because of Music Class, we will not have mystery readers on Tuesdays.
I have to call in for Jury Duty the week of October 16th. I am hoping to be in class every day, so I just want to make you aware that I may possibly be out at some point that week. Have a spooky month...
